Welcome to Archives @ UMW, the University of Mary Washington's Digital Library Repository!

Archives @ UMW currently contains two collections, the Centennial Image Collection and the James L. Farmer Collection

The Centennial Image Collection
began as a collaborative project between UMW faculty, staff, and students to preserve the University's rich history for future generations. To this end, hundreds of historic photographs and documents from the University's archives have been scanned and cataloged and are now available for the UMW community and the public to explore.

The James L. Farmer Collection
makes available images from the James L. Farmer Collection housed in the Special Collections of UMW's Simpson Library. James L. Farmer, one of the foremost leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, served as Distinguished Professor of History and American Studies at Mary Washington College from 1985 to 1998.

The Theatre Poster Collection
houses the posters created for plays and musicals produced by the Department of Theatre and Dance. An ongoing project will enlarge the collection to include artwork, photos, articles, and programs for productions dating back as far as 1912, when students presented the first play at the Normal School.
